GreenPoint Energy reaches financial close on Koolunga BESS & signs long-term offtake with Gunvor Group to power Firmus AI factory operations in South Australia

Melbourne, Australia - 30 June 2026 - GreenPoint Energy (GPE), a market-leading Australian developer and operator of renewable energy infrastructure, today announced it has reached financial close on its Koolunga Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), a 200 MW / 800 MWh BESS located in South Australia, alongside the execution of a bespoke long-term offtake agreement with global energy trading company, Gunvor Group. The structure provides long-term revenue certainty for the Koolunga BESS while enabling the delivery of a stable, firm power product via Gunvor Group to Firmus Technologies for its planned AI infrastructure operations in South Australia. The Koolunga BESS, backed by the Australian Government's Capacity Investment Scheme, is expected to commence operations in early 2028, strengthening grid reliability while supporting Australia's clean energy transition.

Thisagreement is intended to provide a scalable model for future data centrecustomers as demand grows for reliable, firmed renewable power solutions.
Thestructure provides long-term revenue certainty for the Koolunga BESS whileenabling the delivery of a stable, firm power product via Gunvor Group to FirmusTechnologies for its planned AI infrastructure operations in South Australia.
Theproject is scheduled to commence operations in early 2028. Once operational,the Koolunga BESS will have a capacity of 200 MW / 800 MWh, making it one ofthe largest battery storage projects in South Australia. The project has beenawarded a Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) contract by the AustralianGovernment, reinforcing its strategic importance in supporting grid stabilityand accelerating the energy transition. The Koolunga BESS will deliverreliable, low-cost energy, and create up to 115 local jobs.
Thispartnership represents another significant milestone in Gunvor’s Asia-Pacificgrowth strategy, as well as expanding its global energy transition portfolio.Overall, its portfolio is one of the largest in Australia, with storage in moststates in the NEM and offtakes in place for ~5 per cent of total wind generationin NSW and similar levels in Victoria.
